How to make Sambhar – Sambhar Recipe – How to make sambar step by step you can find in this post with the help of tuvar dal and vegetables .
- 1/2 cup arhar dal [toor dal]
- 2 onions [chopped]
- One potato [chopped]
- 1 brinjal [chopped]
- One drumstick cut into 4 pieces
- 2 Tomatoes [chopped]
- 1 tbsp tamarind paste (Imli)
- 1 teaspoon chili powder ( lal mirch)
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi)
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds (rai)
- 4 to 5 curry leaves
- 2 or 3 dry red chilli
- 2 tbsp sambar powder
- 1 pinch of asafoetida
- 6 to 7 cups of water
- Oil as per requirement
- Salt as per requirement
Wash and soak dal for 20 to 25 minutes.
After soaking for 20 to 25 min drain all the water.
Now add 6 cups of water in soaked dal and put salt and turmeric powder and cook this in pressure cooker up to two whistles.
When the cooker cools down, put a Frying pan or kadhai on the gas stove and put some oil and heat it.
Now add mustard seeds, curry leaves, Red Chilies and asafoetida and chopped onions and fry for 2-3 minutes.
Now add chopped vegetables and 1 cup of water and heat it for 6 to 7 minutes
Mix all these cooked vegetables with the dal and put some water if needed.
Now add Sambar Powder and tamarind paste and again cooked the dal for 5 minutes.
Allow it to cool for 10 to 15 minutes.
Serve with hot dosa, idli or vada.
